[Thailand Advanced Institute of Science and Technology and Tokyo Institute of Technology] Master’s Degree Program in Information and Communication Technology for Embedded Systems (ICTES)The goal of this program is to prepare students with a comprehensive understanding of the hardware and software technologies in ICTES, with in-depth knowledge of embedded systems in VLSI designs and embedded software development, as well as broad knowledge of their applications in communications, networking, signal processing, human interface, artificial intelligence, etc. Students will also experience the actual development of embedded systems using the state-of-the-art CAD tools for both hardware (VLSI) and software in “Embedded Systems Design Exercise Class”. Here, studentswill work in teams to also learn about project management, product planning and marketing aspects of the embedded systems development. M. Eng. Program in ICTES welcomes full-time students as well as part-time students from the industry, both of which will greatly benefit from the unique learning environment which this program is designed to provide. Furthermore, the graduates of this program can further pursue a doctoral study at Thai universities or at Tokyo Institute of Technology. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is the fastest growing sector in the economy with a 70% increase in growth rate projected between 2002 and 2012. However, there is said to be an enormous shortage of ICTES engineers, especially in the area of embedded systems, and this trend will continue to grow with the coming of the “ubiquitous society” in a global scale.

The M. Eng. Program in Information and Communication Technology, therefore, has been established to offer an outstanding and state-of-the-art education in both theoretical and practical areas in ICTES with a strong focus on embedded systems. It is expected that all Thai graduates of the M. Eng. Program in ICTES acquire the necessary skills to be the leaders in Thailand’s electronics industry, and also to be highly competitive in the fast-growing global embedded systems market.

Selection Process: 14 February 2008
Result Announcement Date: 20 February 2008
2. Application Procedure
(1) The student submits an application form within February 8, 2008 (Fri.)
(2) The submitted documents are
Online or Email (on February 8, 2008):
• Completed application form + Summary of Senior Project or a research plan + Photo
• Scanned official academic record for undergraduate course
Paper (on the interview date):
• Completed application form
• Two photographs taken within the past 6 months (64 cm)
• Summary of Senior Project or a research plan
• Official academic record for Undergraduate course
• Score of either TOEFL or TOEIC taken within two years (at least 500) before the
application date if available.
• Recommendation letter from the Dean of the student's home institution addressed
to the President of TAIST Tokyo Tech.

(4) The admission committee will interview the students on February 13, 2008 (Thu.) and select the
candidates on February 14, 2008 (Fri.).

afternoon.
(6) The announcement will be made on February 20, 2008 (Wed.)
