What is a good way to learn English?
Repeat words and remember meanings? Surely, this has not got us far. (ไม่มีผลเท่าไร) Let us talk English. You talk to me in English. I talk to you in English (and Thai, if I feel that I am not with you. 2549 (12:02) Hi PadThai and Ron and all those who care for our home I think you're doing quite well - well enough to sell a Thai artifact to any farang. I would even say you can tell them a few jokes in English too .(Who say we can't have fun talking English? We know full well - work hard, play hard.) But remember that we "live with other people" - do unto others as we wish done unto ourselves. Lately, we hear about honesty, morality and fair taxes on a vergin island. In learning English, we would do well to spend fair amount of time on honest practice and keep our mind on the purest motive for learning - not to take advantages of those less fortunate... It is important to be honest with ourselves, for we must choose and do things. When we have a wrong result, we may fail to see it if we have poor judgement. And we may continue on the wrong path - without knowing so. How sad would it be - to become blind when we can see? To live this way? I pity [feel sorry for] those who are dishonestly blind. I sympathize [share the feeling] with you all. We unknowingly gain a debt (some 3 times the size of the magic figure) to be paid off by every man, woman and child; and all natural resources that we have. Only ecologists understand that money does not grow on trees - but money consumes all resources! Another channel for money to flow out from our land has been built. When all we do is to pay off debts - throw our money into the channel. When all our resources go to pay off debts - throw our foods into the flow. When we live to pay off debts - throw our people into the drain. When all economic flows are directed outwards, we are no longer free in the land of the free. 2549 (21:09) Hi K. Sorn and everyone in here. This is my first time to visit this board. If I type something wrong, please feel free to correct it. How can I found this board? I think noone have a correct answer.Today I went to english course and feel disappoint with that class because it took all of day in learning. But there are too many people in this class, i have a bit talking and feel that nothing improve my skill if I still lost my time to learn such a big class. I still feel boring very much with my skill of english. I search in google site with the long sentence that "why i can not talk english well" with disappointed feeling to find the best way to speak english well, but surprising that I find this board in the first of the result. I am interested in your way to talk and feel that it is match with my mind to shared my idea here. Thanks god I found you! babe (IP:203.113.35.10,,) 2549 (06:51) Ummh, I see we have a few newbies (new comers) onboard. Some have introduced themselves. And some are still a tad (little) shy. The ride on "Let's talk English" is free (as in friendship is free .)Welcome all and let me explain where we are going... First I would like to say - I am using English as a tool or a vehicle. I can give you umpteen (many) reasons why I use it and use it here. But we all have our reasons, so I let you use English for your reasons. English is a language. Like many languages, English has time controls. But unlike smart languages like Thai; English time controls are "manual". This means that we must say "when" by choosing the time words- ourselves. (OK. I am talking about "tenses" as the English call their time controls.) It is useful to learn how to control a "time" machine. I do recommend it. English is also a "sex" machine. I should say "gender" - female, male, ...We can use English to say we care about sexes -she/he- or not -I, you, it, ... Enough boring stuff for one day - you say? Yes, I agree. But I must say this: I am not checking your English! "You" do that! We must learn to tell what is right and what is to be righted (corrected). The learning is playing and doing - as much, as often, as long as we can. The knowing is choosing - what or who or which, when, where and why. We are all engineers, we can copy or make up (invent) ways to do things - how . I think I have run out of time today. We will talk about where we go later ...But you have time, don't you? Let us care for our home. 2549 (06:20) Hello again all who care for our home, Our talk has been drowned in (what seems) the biggest "white-wash" ever in our life time. We understand what white-wash means, and we have learnt more methods to apply it. White, grey, black have been colours of choice to describe people's morality, ... Some people are colour-blind - they cannot tell "grey" from white or black. So, when a white-wash is applied using grey paint, the result is very strange (peculiar). But we may see people with 'white eye-glasses' everywhere - to help them see white. (I think i will patent this white eye-glasses - so don't make them for sale without consulting me - not even 'dummy' white eye-glasses! Because I want to keep the white eye-glassess NOT FOR SALE.) PS. I have written about 'blinkers' - a device to restrict vision to smaller view. Blinkers make us see 'less' but still 'true' pictures. White-washes cover the pictures. And white eye-glasses give us only one colour to see. 2549 (12:07) In a few days, we will elect the "carers" of our home (whether we want to or not). It is our "right" by our laws to elect someone to look after our home - on our behalf. It is our share of the commonwealth of our home. It is our ownership and responsibility for our home we pass to a carer we elected. We do not elect 'masters', a 'servants' or beaurocrats - we elect 'carers'. Carers are people who look after things for us - 'look after' means 'upkeep', 'make good' and 'protect'. We have this right to elect the best carers for our home only a few times in our lives. We must use our right carefully. One wrong choice, we could lose our right and our home. We all have only one share of our plentiful, beautiful and valuable home (that people over the world want - at any price). We have to choose our 'share manager' very carefully. And remember, we will have to choose our guards to look over our carers too. The guards we want are those who will ensure our carers do care for our home. And sometimes, we ourselves must tell both guards and carers to care for our home. It is our responsibility and our pride for our own home. 2549 (05:30) A 'country' is a collection of 'societies' living and sharing a defended space or environment. A society is a collection of 'people' interacting and believing in a set of 'common values'. One common value is the 'right' to 'elect' small subsets of people to 'perform' some tasks. Those tasks are necessary to keep other common values within the ranges we like. When we know these values, we can behave accordingly and the societies are in harmony. In such country, resources are not wasted to overcome frictions, erosions and invasions. ... This is we are led (or vow) to believe at home, at school, at work and by the media. === All we have is our home. === Our home needs looking after - protecting from decays and take-overs. It is NOT upto polliticians, public servants, business corporates or foreigners to set our 'common values', to say what we do, how we live or who we marry... It is time we let everyone know - what are our 'common values'; (in our heart) what are 'right', what are 'wrong', and what are fair and just; what 'machines' are working for us and what 'assets' are 'stolen' by corruption. It is time we look at the 'health' of our home, clean and repair and enable... For we can share the health of our home and make ourselves and our home fitter. 'We' are responsible for what we want to be and how we want to live in our home. I'm a one man that has a problem with using english whatever listening, talking, reading and writing. My friend had a chance to study in U.S.A 1 year when he came back. His english skills had develpoped so much. I haven't the same chance as him but I still practise by myself when I have a free time. I have to go now and will be back again for read each reply. smapgod@hotmail.com (IP:202.28.245.90,,) 2549 (14:53) Hi smapgod@hotmail.com and all, We are more fortunate in something and less in another - that is life!We can do only what we can when we can - but not 'evil' deeds. If we want something 'badly' enough, we would try and try till we get what we want. Sometimes, we run around so fast, we lose count of what or when we want to get I suggest we slow down to what we can see 'clearly' what we are doing - where and when we are at! In other words - we set our time control on the present tense to begin with. For now, we go into the past slowly. We change our time control as we go. In the same way, we go into the future and also change our time control. Please, play with the time control for a while - you know a few 'verbs' and 'adverbs' We know we can control 'time', when we know 'when' we are - easy, eh .SR (IP:144.134.69.175,,) I could not help but laughed at your posting - how silly can one be? Though, I was young and silly once. Now I am older and - of course - more silly. I strongly suggest that you look at 'conventional' (usual) vegetable soups and foods. They are a lot better (more nutritious) for you than pages of dictionaries (paper). You do not learn much from eating English. You may only get indigestion or poisoned. You will learn more from reading dictionaries 'aloud', again and again. You have a brain like anybody else - I can't say that you use it like everybody else. Your brain may need more neural connections. These connections can make you 'smart'. How do you connect your brain? You look, listen, feel, taste, 'think' and 'try' changing things around - but do not do EVIL acts (YOU do KNOW what are EVIL). You 'play' and 'think' how to make the play 'better' (more useful, helpful or enjoyable). I dare you to put your posting in English! Become a proud person - stand up and learn. Otherwise, shut up and live your life with your underdeveloped brain. We think, choose and do, then we assess the outcome of our chosen actions. If the outcome is good, then we keep doing the 'same thing', else we learn and change! This is a 'plain and simple' recipe (way) to learn, to live, to build ... - a life! But, we must make sure that we 'think' before we 'choose' before we 'do' then always 'assess' the outcome and learn to change! I will let you read above, But please make your comments or suggestions here .(I do not hop about among web pages as much as before now - my modem needs oiling!) We can help by settling some standard translation for some common Thai words. Can you help? 2549 (05:33) There are talks on pets somewhere around here. Pets, you know, cats and dogs and animals we feed and let live with us. Not ownerless animals or strays or homeless animals that show up around our home. We call such poor dogs (not nicely) 'curs' or 'mongrels', and sometimes ... (also referring to people as) alley dogs, street dogs, wanderers, tramps and 'vagabonds'. I have heard of roadside dogs and recently 'side street' dogs .I have a few cross-bred dogs among other farm animals at my place. I think, many of them would win 'blue ribbons' (first prizes) in the 'thoroughly cross-bred or hot-cross bundle-of-breeds category in any dogs show. Forgive my 'pun' (play on words) on 'thoroughbred' or pure-bred or pedigree .We dont keep cats. Because we cannot train them to stop killing chicks and little native birds like (such as) wagtails, robins, finches and sparrows. (We care for our home). Our dogs can catch rats and mice like (as well as) cats. They also keep snakes, foxes and many human visitors away .This year, my very dear friend, Chippy had passed away. We had enjoyed living and sharing moments for 14 years. She had taught me many things, even how to be a caring human. I will remember her passing, but she lives on in my heart. I am sad to say that most of my loved ones are living only in my heart. The coming and going of lives make me realize that all I am is 'a crossing' in time. 2549 (15:32) go to see this site can help you http://screenformula1.en101.com/web/Website/En1012006.aspx biz_formula@yahoo.com (IP:202.6.107.59,172.16.190.146,) 2549 (20:35) hello every .I would like to speak English wei. You are doing well. You should try reading English 'story books' aloud more often. Try - write English words on paper and stick to things around your home. Try - sing along (karaoke) English songs and find out what the songs say. Try - say "Hello" to a farang in a public place and stop to listen - do not run away. I would say it is best to set yourself a goal like "I will speak English." and work at it. # 214 is an advertisment - looking at the quality of the English phrase, I will not go there. We Care for Our Home: We say we are Buddhists. We vow to be 'Buddharmica' - many times. We pay homage to Buddha statues. We give money to monks and others to make (buy) merits. We chant mantras - the Three Jewels, the Five Silas and the Five Dharmas. (Buddhists do not pray. Christians say the Rosary, pray to God and sing Psalms [saams].) We lie. Such lies are parts of our fronts (faces), our culture and our lives. We live with lies and 'guilts'. We accept double standards. We show a face but do another. We keep on lying to 'keep face'. We suffer from our own lies and guilts. We are not as happy as we can be because of lies and guilts. ... Each of us has a way to relief from sufferings - our way is the 'best way' (individually). I would not dare suggest otherwise - after all, this is a talk in English .Swasdee = Be at peace, be safe and well 168 "Why you are very good in computer. Are you two 'twins' or just 'like-minded'? Your postings are much alike. I do not understand what you said (typed). What Simon asked? And oat answered. Using a computer is like watching telly (television). You do not know it works. You only know how to work it. Once you see the gap between 'making' and 'using', you would see where you stand. For those who "care for our home", Lies and Guilts continue to torment us and slow us down. Lies make us doubt if anything can be trusted and make us spend time and resources to find the truth. Guilts make us ashame (and unhappy). We may lie to hide guilts and feel more guilty. And so we roll on. Next time we take the Five Sila, let us really take the Five Sila even for one day, one week, ... If we can hold our Sila for that long, then we will not have lied and we will not have guilts. We will be proud of ourselves - we can be free of lies and guilts - we can be spiritually free! We will find world within ourself. We may find love and more time to enjoy peace.SR (IP:144.138.31.28,,) หากจะโพสต์คำตอบสำหรับกระทู้ในห้องนี้ ล๊อกอินก่อนนะคะ สมัครสมาชิก ฟรี ตลอดชีพ ที่ http://www.vcharkarn.com/my ค่ะ |
