What is a good way to learn English?
Repeat words and remember meanings? Surely, this has not got us far. (ไม่มีผลเท่าไร) Let us talk English. You talk to me in English. I talk to you in English (and Thai, if I feel that I am not with you. 2548 (18:07) I am so glad you guys are enjoying talking English. I can see some very confident guys in here. You have stepped forward and showed yourself in front of a lot of people. You are moving ahead... watch out for red lights! I am talking about time and we should be conscious (aware) of time when we talk in English (Why? Because English have "tenses" or common ways to make "events" (happennings) occur in whatever time - past, present and future and with some senses of what we believe. These are ways for us to understand not just "meanings" but also the "time" and "belief". We are standing out. We should talk as "clear" as we can. To be able to do so would mean that we are on top (in control) of English. We are closer to master English. =V= The rains are here and so are the mosquitoes, the moths and if we have had let mother fish lived, the fish roes (eggs) would soon hatch (turn) into fry (little fishes). The rains should wash nutrients (please, not rubbish and pollution) down for them to eat and grow. And we would have plenty of fish in the water - plenty of rice in the field. The golden era ... The future is unfolding (opening) all its secrets before us. We can follow its path and enjoy its offerings. We can plunder (rob) and damage it - reduce its capacity! Please look after nature for it offers its produces for free (but supermarket? )Of course, I am still wearing my "STOP KILLING MOTHER FISH" t-shirt. Would someone put it on more t-shirts and sell ...? 2548 (20:39) Hi! Everyone. I\'ve just come here for the first time. I\'m the one who want to speak english fluently. I think I can speak english quite well. I mean the pronunciation. But sometimes I\'m afraid to speak english with foreigners. I can\'t speak to them first. I have to wait for them to speak or ask some question. I feel nervous. I don\'t know why. But I try to talk to them first now. And everyday I speak eng with my sister, too. I speak Eng to her but she answer me in Thai! 2548 (10:50) Hello All, Today I would like to post the MOTTO in the phrases format. ^ ^ guys, Had you ever thing somethig like this. ! Is it reach the appointed time of us to start something seriously ? Don\'t hesitate to do !! whether you know well that it is not interrupt anyone. I\'m just wondering what the phrase "kinda or kind of" (adverb) mean in Thai and how to use it. I saw many Hollywood movie stars use it. I want to know how to use it \'cause I could use it sometime when I talk to Farangs. And it sounds cool too! Thank you, kai Kai (IP:203.149.55.238,,) 2548 (12:53) Dear Tungmay, -- say hello and smile -- If I may say so. You are smart but a bit shy. You have been raised to respect people privacy and other rights. So you are a tat "passive". You do not do anything without a good reason. Now you feel unsure. "Should I do this?" Let me say this "people need love and good feeling." farangs or not. If you can make someone feel good today by just talking. Why wait? Say some nice things in a nice tone. Give them complements (flatteries) just for fun. Dear Kas_nova, -- loud and clear -- Calm down please. Gee, if you keep going like this, people who are passing by to other web rooms will think we are having a great party. What if they do not go pass but all come in? Can you play a violin (nice and peaceful) rather than a trumpet (strong and load) to entertain them? It is kinda (rather) hard to explain that a duck is a kind (type) of bird. A duck walks kinda (more) funky compare to how a dog walks. Oh, I kinda think that your English writing is kinda very good. Would you be kind enough to write some more, please? Dear ALL, === STOP KILLING MOTHER FISH === ความเห็นเพิ่มเติมที่ 79 12 พ. 2548 (13:50) What \'s that ! --Seriously and serene-- Sorry to say I don\'t know what did you mean ! guy Firstly, English is English Second, Webboard is used for share the opinion Third, MOTTO is the good phrase which can really utilize in our life Therefore, I want to propose the motto is this webboard which name is \'\'Let\'s talk english\'\' PS. I want to know more. Could you tell me the way to learn English and the way to remember vocaburaly. Thank you so much. ... 2548 (18:25) My good man Kas_nova, -- Peace and smile -- We like your forward attitudes and your sincerity - a quality very rare (hard to find) nowadays. We learn English firstly as a tool. We learn some mechanical sides of this tool - how to put words together to express meanings in commonly acceptable ways (grammar). We also learn English as an art. We learn to express our feelings, our views and our knowledge. We learn in some ways about OURSELVES. Afterall a language is a tool to express ourselves. To this end, we also learn to INTERACT with others. And would it not be nice to have more friends? Dear ... =<:>= you are doing quite well ... You used good simple words in simple sentences. If you could read more books, listen to English talks and write more English, you would be talking English very soon. When I was younger, I had a pocket dictionary - with pages missing. I used it to learn words - 2 pages (1 leaf) off that dictioary everyday. The pages for V words were already missing, so I do not know how to spell "vocabulary" (is this right?). Just keep on doing more things with English! 2548 (05:52) I guess it\'s not very productive to talk only about "talking in English." There should be some topic to discuss somewhat more seriously. Discussing a topic makes a better practice because it involves explaning your opinion, which can be very complicated. Explaning complicated things forces you to organize your thoughts and to use appropriate and more advanced vocabulary. Okay, let me start to topic then. Let\'s talk about something very controversial. "Do you think it is a good idea to change the university entrance examination system so that it is based 75% on school grades?" (The exact number might be different though.) ค. 2548 (05:54) Gah... Typo plagued my typings. 2548 (12:19) Dear Cardcaptor == learn others to know oneself == We do not limit the topics of our talks. We may talk about topics close to our heart longer. Other topics may just come and go - in a flash. I prefer playing English as it is. I would let the game play itself to whatever situations or focuses. University Admissions or any (sensational) controversies - may they be! I would like to have more players now. I may like more "attackers" or more "defenders" at other times. I would enjoy "laughters" and "good moves" more than a win over any debates. Yes, I believe in "teamworks" not skilful "individuals". I believe everyone can help and everyone can enjoy this English journey. Right now, I sincerely like people to "STOP KILLING MOTHER FISH". 2548 (16:46) Responding to Cardcaptor topic. 75% base on school grade!! Isn\'t it too high? I don\'t think all schools in Thailand have the same stand ard, and I just think this entrance examination system is not fair to some students. Actually, I don\'t know much about this topic -- it was no longer in my interests since I graduated. Well, I just came back from a trip to Samed Island, and I had a good time there with my new friends -- they came from the Philippines. I had tried to talk to them in English, though I felt frustrated sometimes when I failed to do a clear talking. Anyway, I have fun with them, you know I just laughed when they laughed in any topic. Huh, I have to practise more about the pronunciation... kai Kai (IP:203.149.55.238,,) 2548 (13:59) To Khun Sorn, It\'s my second request today to ask u to add me in. I strongly intend to practice and use Eng in many ways. This is one of many ways that I can do so. I\'d love to talk , chat, and even go out with those who try to speak Eng as thier first-tongue, or with good command. If I have that chance, please let me know suandork6th@hotmail.com (IP:61.91.209.190,,) 2548 (12:03) Dear Kai == relax and smile == I like to the way you kept control of talking (to Filipinos and Filipinas). You might have come away with a feeling that you can talk better than they can. Let me settle it for you. You ARE! Dear Suandork6th == the world is yours, too == Welcome and I am very pleased to hear that you do want to talk English. Furthermore, you are willing to go where some of us have never gone before. (I borrowed that from Star Trek )As long as Vcharkarn.com would allow, I will try to keep this topic going. Sometimes, I am busy elsewhere and very slow in talking here. Please forgive me. Nowadays, some friends are avoiding me. Because when I see them I ask them to help controlling mosquitoes. I ask them not to use chemicals that would get washed down into waterways and reservoirs. - You see when you "stop killing mother fish"; they spawn (lay eggs or roes); the roes hatch into fry (little fishes)! - We have the job to protect the fry from being killed by chemicals and proachers (hunters). So they can grow up and ... Things are connected in some unexpected ways - like all of us here, by chance, are seeing and helping fish of Thailand. I am sure that we are all very proud and happy. 2548 (13:34) Hi ! It is long time for this webboard;room to be keeped talking english. That was sound great. What a interesting topic everyone made ! #To K.kai. You have just gone to Samet Island? Ah! me too. I went to Hadsaigav-Coast. And I also had the japanese friends from there. They could alittle bit talk English. So, we had to communicate by English and Japanese Lanquage as much as we can. I think it no need to sereously be careful talking in Grammarteristic. We not the native Speaker. It\'s better to talk from mind. Enjoy your life ! World is the land of ours !! 2548 (15:17) We have witnessed severe weathers recently (not too long ago). These uncharacteristic (unexpected) rains, hails and storms are clear signs of chaos in nature. They may be results of global warming and global dimming. We cannot say for sure now. These events have sprouted (brought about) new kinds of tourism; "Storm Chasers Tours", "Disasters Witnessing Tours" and "Floodline surfing" and so on. I would suggest a "Whale Hunting Watchers Tours", where we go out at sea to see some Japanese hunt whales. To see whales die in bloody waves, in painful agony, in senseless purposes - right before our eyes. We will also see how our oceans are littered (full of garbage) with plastic bottles, plastic bags, plastic ropes and nets, plastic thongs, ... The whales are our true wonders of the world. They are no harmful threats to people. How many people suffer from whales? How many people suffer from cars? Would it not make more sense to hunt and kill "cars" (Japanese or otherwise)? Cars kill people by the million every year. Cars create and add to global weather problems. Cars create "debts" - personal and national. Cars take away "space" for living (ours and our fellow creatures). Cars create noises, vibrations, oily soils and oily waters. Cars pollute! (Our minds and our environments). On this sad note (sad song), I bid you (say) goodnight. I will be dreaming of the ocean full of fish because we "stop killing mother fish" (and "whales"). Ah... I pity those wales. At least, if they want to kill wales, they should not capitalize on the killing. It's very barbaric, and it reminds me of the old times when people gathered to watch an execution just for their excitement. 2548 (23:21) The whale could extinct some day like those million-year-ever-living creatures. I start to think why those large animals always fall prey to nature and man. Its size didn\'t help at all. I\'ve never seen those real whales in my life, and if they\'ve gone from the ocean, it\'s somewhat terribly awful (at least to me) Coming in and sharing something in writing here gives me a chance to use English. It\'s good to use it often, or I could lose it for good. Glad to share with ya all Kai (IP:203.149.55.238,,) 2548 (10:37) We have been trying to show English as a tool. It is indeed a tool like any "mechanical" tools. First, we have to pick it up (decide to use it). Then we have to try using it to help us make other people understand what we talk about. We have played with "time" controls in English. We have looked into an "art" of putting "words" together. We have asked that we practice English in a pleasant way (with a smile) The mechanical aspect of any language will be easier through practice -- actually using it --. Truly, we aim to use English "at will" -- as we want to use it--. This "will" is an "intention" or a purpose (a wish, a desire, a "volition", a goal, etc) . Then we make a plan - an idea how to put things together to achieve our goal. We put words together to realize the plan (just as we put steel, concrete and so on to build a house). The "arts" of building sentences and paragraphs and stories are much the same as for building houses. When all is done, we will need to "test" -- to make sure what we have just made will "serve" (satisfy) our purpose. We would ask about "short-term" and "long-term" goals and how they help or hinder (go against) our lives ... But for now, I insist that all of us "STOP KILLING MOTHER FISH" and "help nurse baby fish". (You may smile while you are doing these beautiful acts. 2548 (05:56) Hello, will anyone laugh with me? --A man goes to the doctor and says, "Doctor, please help me. I hurt all over." The doctor asked the man to explain more. The man said, "When I touch my arm it hurts, when I touch my leg it hurts, when I touch my head it hurts. Everywhere I touch it hurts." The doctor examined the man and said, "Mr Smith, your finger is broken.-- (i found it on a web) Funny!!
