I tried looking up the 'French' oringial source article by using English words like

วัตถุประสงค์ของกระทู้นี้ก็เพื่อชักชวนให้คนที่ไม่กล้าหยิบหนังสือพิมพ์ภาษาอังกฤษขึ้นมาอ่าน ได้ทดลองหัดอ่านดู มันไม่ยากอย่างที่คิดหรอกครับ ปัจจุบันมีสื่อออนไลน์ฟรี หลาย ๆ ที่ การเรียนอังกฤษในปัจจุบันง่ายกว่าเมื่อ 10-20 กว่าปีที่แล้วมากครับ

I tried to confirm the source article because this allegation is seriously hurting Thai people and Thai reputation.
If proven true, I do not see why Thais should remain 'thick' and buy French "parfumes, vins et cognac..."?

Why should they still get support after having derogated their friends in public? They would be adding another word "โง่" (stupid)...

Before I go on, let us have a proof. Can anyone help?

Among the English learning skills, reading can consider to be the easiest one. Many ESL learners or eveyone who want to learn English usually start by reading something.

Reading is the best way you can learn vocabulary. Unlike listening, you can stop whenever and as often as you want. You can go back to the top of the article, you can choose to read only the area that you still don't understand.

The next question is that how can you improve reading skill effectively. Reading with no direction can only discourage you in the long run. You need to have some guides and right approaches. Below is our tips and tricks that you can use.



1. Start by choosing the topic that you are interested in.

If you start from the topic that you are interested in you will not get too bored when you face many difficult vocabularies.

2. Start from the easy one

Other than choosing the topic you are interested in, you should start from the easy topic that you are interested in. For example, if you like history you can start from the child book about the autobiography of popular people in the history. You'd better not start with the 1500 pages encyclopedia.

No matter how much love you have to the history, you will be discouraged after a while anyway.

3. Use English-English Dictionary

It's better to use English-English dictionary. Even though it will take more time at the beginning it helps you a lot in the long run. You will get used to it after a while. Use our dictionary corner as youre reference along the way.

4. Keep reading

Lastly, as I always emphasize, do not discourge. Everything is always difficult at the beginning but you will feel better and better over time. I guarantee.

ที่ผมเป็นห่วงก็คือ นักเรียนที่เรียนถึงระดับมหาวิทยาลัยแล้วมีความสามารถทางภาษาอังกฤษไม่พอใช้งาน การเรียนภาษาไม่ว่าภาษาใดต้องเกิดจากการสะสมและคุ้นเคยกับภาษานั้นในฐานะเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของชีวิต เช่นเดียวที่เราเรียนภาษาไทยครับ ทำแบบนี้มันไม่ลำบากเหนื่อยยากอะไร เพราะเป็นไปโดยอัตโนมัติ การนั่งท่องนั่งจำไม่ได้ช่วยอะไรมากนัก ทำ ๆ ไปก็เบื่อและเลิกไป ภาษาก็อ่อนเหมือนเดิม

SINGAPORE 'REGRETS' THAI RETALIATION

Singapore's government on Wednesday said it regretted Thailand's decision to cancel its foreign minister's visit to Bangkok, which was made in response to ousted Thai premier Thaksin Shinawatra's visit to the city-state.

"The Singapore government hopes that Thailand can appreciate Singapore's position," a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said, adding that there was no reason for the city-state to turn Thaksin away.

"The Thai government did not notify us that Dr Thaksin has been charged with any offence," it said, adding that there is no restriction on where he can travel.

Thailand on Tuesday informed Singaporean Ambassador Peter Chan that it was cancelling a visit to Bangkok by Foreign Minister George Yeo planned for later this month and was also cancelling civil aviation cooperation talks.

The Thai government called the city-state's stance toward Thaksin "inappropriate" and expressed concern over a meeting between Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister S Jayakumar and Thaksin last week.

An earlier statement issued by the Singapore foreign ministry described Jayakumar as an old friend of Thaksin and said their meeting was "purely social and private."

Thaksin "had chosen to make a visit to Singapore on his own," the latest ministry statement said. "Thai nationals do not require visas to visit Singapore. There is no reason for Singapore to turn Dr Thanksin away."

Singapore also noted that Thaksin had visited several other countries "without any protest by the Thai government," referring to trips to China, Hong Kong and Indonesia.

"We are therefore saddened that the Thai government has chosen to take this course of action," the foreign ministry said. "We hope Thailand will respect Singapore's position as that of a sovereign country. We value the longstanding friendly relations with Thailand."

Thaksin was ousted by the military in a bloodless coup on September 19, while he was attending an annual UN summit of leaders in New York, and has been living in exile since. The military appointed a new government to take his place.

Thailand's new prime minister, Surayud Chulanont, said Singapore's ambassador was told the city-state should be more cautious about allowing such movements "since we have already revoked Thaksin's diplomatic passport."

The meeting between Thaksin and Jayakumar, "even though it was a low-key affair, sends the wrong signal to the Thai public," said a Foreign Ministry spokesman.

Relations between Thailand and Singapore have been strained since January last year when Temasek Holdings, the Singapore government's investment arm, bought Shinawatra's 49 per cent holding in Shin Corp, Thaksin's business empire, for 1.9 billion dollars in a tax free deal. Many Thais saw the purchase as selling off national assets to a foreign company.

Thailand's military-appointed government last week revoked Thaksin's diplomatic passport, making it difficult for him to travel without visas.

While in Singapore Thaksin gave an interview to CNN - censored in Thailand - in which he vowed to stay away from Thai politics in the future. He also denied any involvement in the New Year's Eve bombings in Bangkok that killed three people and injured 40.

Juling's parents dedicate merit to teachers

Chiang Rai _ The parents of the late teacher Juling Pongkunmul have dedicated their daughter's merit to all devoted teachers across the country and wished for a speedy restoration of peace in the restive South. ''Our family wants to dedicate Juling's great merit to every teacher in Thailand and really wish harmony to be returned to the South as soon as possible,'' the teacher's adoptive mother Khammee said with tears in her eyes.

Her statement came as thousands of mourners joined a cremation service to bid a final farewell to Juling at Ban Pongnoi crematorium in Chiang Rai's Doi Luang district yesterday.

Also attending the cremation rite were around 100 representatives of teachers and students from Narathiwat province, including 50 students from Ban Gujingruepo school, who flew on a C130 military plane from the South to the northern province.

At 12.30pm, Juling's coffin, draped with a national flag, was carried from Wat Pongsanook to Ban Pongnoi cemetery for the royally-sponsored cremation ceremony.

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn and HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn arrived at Ban Pongnoi cemetery around 5pm to preside over the ceremony.

The Crown Prince and the princess also had a brief conversation with Mr Soon and Mrs Khammee, Juling's parents.

Education Minister Wijit Srisa-arn, who accompanied Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont and Interior Minister Aree Wongarya to the ceremony, granted a golden plaque, a certificate of honour and a cash award to the late teacher's family to mark Teachers' Day, which was yesterday.

In the restive far South, several schools held parallel memorial services for Juling together with traditional ceremonies to mark Teachers' Day.

Isman Muwannasit, director of Ban Gujingruepo school, said participating students handed in the last art homework Juling had assigned them before she was taken hostage and beaten by villagers.

He said an Islamic ritual would be held after yesterday's cremation ceremony. The late teacher's desk and her teaching equipment would be kept in memory of her great dedication.

Meanwhile, Assistant Professor Lek Saengmee-anuplab, rector of Lampang Rajabhat University, Juling's alma mater, said it would give a 240,000-baht cash donation to her family and build a memorial park on the campus to remind the academic community of the late teacher's devotion.

แก่เกินไปไหมที่จะเรียนภาษาต่างประเทศ?

คำตอบก็คือ อย่ายอมให้อายุเป็นอุปสรรคต่อการเรียนภาษาต่างประเทศ ไม่ว่าจะทำอย่างไรก็ตามคนเราก็ต้องแก่อยู่แล้ว (วันยังค่ำ) เราอาจเรียนไปพร้อม ๆ กับลูกได้ หรืออาจให้ลูกสอน ถ้าเราไม่คิดว่าเราเกิดก่อนต้องรู้ก่อนเสมอไป

อย่ากลัวผิด ยิ่งใช้ผิดก็ยิ่งจะจำ คำที่ทำให้เราขายหน้านั่นแหละเราจำได้แม่นนัก

โปรแกรมการสอนภาษาทางอินเตอร์เน็ตเดี่ยวนี้มีทั้งภาพและเสียง บางแห่งเสียเงิน บางแห่งก็ฟรี ลองค้นหาดูนะครับ

ในปัจจุบันสื่อการเรียนรู้ภาษาอังกฤษมีจำนวนมาก โปรดสนใจเรียนรู้ไปทีละน้อยจากชื่อสินค้า ชื่อห้างร้าน แผ่นพับ แผ่นโฆษณา ใบเสร็จและป้ายต่าง ๆ แม้กระทั่งโทรศัพท์มือถือที่พวกเราใช้อยู่ เป็นสื่อในการเรียนรู้อย่างดี อย่างน้อยก็เป็นประโยชน์แก่ผู้นำไปใช้ นอกจากนี้สื่อมัลติมีเดียก็มีมากราคาไม่แพง สาระก็ไม่ผิดเพี้ยนกัน

กล่องหรือหีบห่อผลิตภัณฑ์ต่างๆที่มีทั้งภาษาไทยและภาษาอังกฤษสามารถนำมาเป็นสื่อการเรียนการสอนภาษาอังกฤษได้เป็นอย่างดี

ในบทความทางวิชาการมีศัพท์ภาษาอังกฤษที่อยู่ในวงเล็บ ถ้าเราสนใจและใส่ใจไว้ ก็จะเป็นการดี เมื่อไปอ่านบทความที่เป็นภาษาอังกฤษล้วนๆ ก็ทำให้เข้าใจดีขึ้น

วารสาร นิตยสาร จุลสาร หรือหนังสืออะไรก็ตามที่มีภาษาไทยซีกหนึ่ง และภาษาอังกฤษอีกซีกหนึ่ง หรือ ย่อหน้าหนึ่งเป็นภาษาไทย อีกย่อหน้าหนึ่งเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ ถ้าพบเห็น ก็รีบสะสมไว้เลย และเอามาแกะเวลาว่าง (ไม่ใช่สะสมไว้แล้วไม่อ่าน)

ถ้าเราศึกษาการใช้โปรแกรมคอมพิวเตอร์จาก Help อาจจะไม่เข้าใจ
แต่โปรแกรมใดที่เราเข้าใจการใช้แล้ว ว่างๆก็ลองอ่าน Help ของโปรแกรมนั้นดู ก็อาจจะทำให้เข้าใจภาษาอังกฤษดีขึ้น

บทเรียนวิชาต่างๆ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นวิทยาศาสตร์ คณิตศาสตร์ที่เราเคยเรียนมาแล้ว เข้าใจทะลุปรุโปร่งดีแล้ว ถ้าเราได้อ่านภาคภาษาอังกฤษก็มีความรู้สึกว่าพอจะเข้าใจได้(เดาได้)และให้สังเกตและใส่ใจด้วยว่าเขาใช้ศัพท์แสงหรือสำนวนอย่างไร

เคยสังเกตหรือไม่ว่า ถ้ามีบทความที่มีทั้งภาษาไทยและอังกฤษนั้น ส่วนที่เป็นภาษาอังกฤษจะมีจำนวนบรรทัดน้อยกว่าส่วนที่เป็นภาษาไทย เพราะภาษาอังกฤษใช้คำไม่ฟุ่มเฟือยเหมือนภาษาไทย

ตอนที่เราเรียนอยู่ จดคำบรรยายทันบ้าง ไม่ทันบ้าง ต้องใช้อักษรย่อมากๆ บางที่ก็ลืมว่าอักษรย่อนั้นหมายถึงอะไร ชำเลืองดูเพื่อนที่นั่งข้างๆ เขาจดคำบรรยายเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ ทันทุกคำพูดเลยครับ ถ้าให้เราจดคำบรรยายเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ ชาตินี้ทั้งชาติ คงทำไม่ได้

ทุกครั้งที่เราจดไม่ทัน เราหันไปอ่านข้อความที่เขาจด
แปลกมากเลยครับ ไม่น่าเชื่อ เราอ่านเข้าใจ เข้าใช้ประโยคง่ายๆ
แต่เราเขียนไม่ได้อย่างเขา

จึงเกิดความคิดขึ้นว่า ถ้าเราพยายามหัดพูด หัดคิดเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ และแสดงออกมาเป็นภาษาอังกฤษแล้ว คงจะไม่ต้องถึงชาติหน้าหรอกครับ ชาตินี้แหละ ทำได้แน่ๆ

จึงอยากจะฝากข้อคิดนี้ไว้ให้น้องๆเยาวชนได้พิจารณา
