ควรจะแปลว่า บริการทัวร์ Thomas Cook กล่าวว่าการไปท่องเที่ยว (holiday) เมืองไทยยังคงเหมือนปกติ

จริง ๆ แล้วข่าวออกมาเยอะมาก ผมก็เสนอได้เพียงวันละข่าวเท่านั้น ทักษิณพยายามต้านปฏิวัติโดยออกแถลวการณ์ทางโทรทัศน์แต่ไม่ทันการเมื่อการสื่อสารถูกตัดขาด นอกจากนั้นยังมีข่าวว่ามีความพยายามที่จะตั้งรัฐบาลพลัดถื่นอีกด้วย

หันมาดูในกรุงเทพ รู้สึกว่าประชาชนจะยินดีในการปฏิวัติ แต่ในสายตาสหประชาชาติ สหรัฐอเมริกา และ ต่างประเทศอาจมองในแง่ลบ และกำลังเฝ้าดูอยู่ ซึ่งการยึดอำนาจจากรัฐบาลที่มาจากการเลือกตั้งย่อมเป็นที่ครหาเสมอ

A number of people swarmed around the gate of the army headquarters to observe the situation and apparently wait for the two men, who had been summoned to report by noon yesterday. Both were then detained. The CDR had ordered the two close aides of deposed caretaker prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra to turn themselves in. They were linked with activities to counter movements and activities of Mr Thaksin's opponents before the coup. Mr Newin, escorted by army police, arrived in a black van around 11.30am and lowered the window to greet waiting reporters when the vehicle approached the gate. But he was greeted with shouts of ''cheat'' and obscenities. Mr Yongyuth arrived late, at 12.45pm, in a black sedan. As he was about to step out of the car to greet reporters, a group of people hovered around and pounded on the vehicle. Military police intervened and helped him back into the car. Speaking in a phone interview, Mr Newin said he decided to turn himself in because the CDR was royally endorsed. The former deputy agriculture minister said he did not feel intimidated or fear being detained. Mr Newin was said to have fled to Singapore after the coup. Both reportedly asked their relatives to drop off their personal belongings at the army headquarters in the evening. CDR spokesman Lt-Gen Palangkul Klaharn said yesterday that Mr Newin and Mr Yongyuth would remain in CDR custody until a new civilian government is in place, expected in two weeks. Army secretary Maj Veeran Chantasartkosol said both men were initially invited to give information and they were also informed of the reasons why they were there. ''We need to detain them here at the army headquarters and take care of them,'' he said. He said there was no plan to summon other former cabinet ministers. A military source said Mr Newin and Mr Yongyuth could be charged with illegal assembly posing a threat to national security. Mr Newin, Mr Thaksin's most trusted aide, might also be charged with orchestrating an alleged hoax bomb plot against the former premier, said the source. Mr Newin is known for his role in creating pro-government media to counter the moves of anti-Thaksin demonstrators, as well as directing criticism at those with differing political viewpoints. Mr Yongyuth is accused of mobilising forest rangers to confront anti-Thaksin demonstrators who had planned to rally on Sept 20 at the Royal Plaza. According to the source, Mr Yongyuth fled across the border to Burma and was hiding in a Thai-owned casino opposite Chiang Rai's Chiang Saen district while his houses in Bangkok and northern provinces were raided. Third Army commander Lt-Gen Saprang Kalayanamitr reportedly asked the casino owners, one of whom is a relative of a former Chart Thai MP, not to provide shelter to Mr Yongyuth and to talk him into turning himself in. The former minister reportedly flew from Chiang Rai to Bangkok yesterday. Troops searched his house in Mae Chan and Muang districts and took control of forestry units in several northern provinces. Forestry helicopters were ordered grounded. The army also demanded 35 HK-33 assault rifles from the 13th forestry conservation office in Lampang. Chiang Rai and Phayao forestry offices reportedly will hand over 156 and 176 HK rifles, respectively, to the army. Earlier, the army demanded back more than 1,000 assault rifles loaned to forest rangers under the National Park, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department. Meanwhile, Chidchai Wannasathit and Prommin Lertsuridej were reportedly transferred from the army headquarters to the Supreme Command's Armed Forces Security Centre (AFSC). Former Thai Rak Thai MP Veera Musikapong yesterday asked to see both of them, but permission was denied. Mr Veera quoted AFSC commander Vaipoj Srinuan, who was last night appointed by the CDR as director of the National Intelligence Agency, as saying that they were in AFSC custody but not in the compound. Mr Veera said Lt-Gen Vaipoj assured him the two were being treated well. Pol Gen Chidchai did not want any visitors.

comprehension passage มากกว่าเพราะภาษาหนังสือพิมพ์อาจใช้คำที่ผิดความหมาย

ยกตัวอย่างคำว่า Ex-ministers in custody ความจริงเป็นเพียงแค่การกักบริเวณเท่านั้น

ถ้าทำได้อย่างคุณ นชน บอกก็ จะดีมาก ที่ผมทำตรงนี้วัตถุประสงค์คือ ให้คนที่ไม่กล้าที่จะหยิบหนังสือพิมพ์มาอ่านได้ลองหัดอ่าน มันเป็นสื่อที่หาได้ง่าย และใช้ในชีวิตประจำวันจริง ๆ ปัญหาใหญ่ของการเรียนอังกฤษบ้านเราคือไม่ได้ใช้ในชีวิตประจำวัน เด็กเรียนมาสอบเสร็จก็คืนครูหมด

เวลาอ่านภาษาอังกฤษ อ่านไปมากๆคุณจะรู้ถึงความหมายลึกๆที่แฝงอยู่ที่เรียกว่า "connotation"

กรณีอองซาน ซูจี คือการกักบริเวณ เรียกว่า house arrest


กรณีเนวิน เข้าข่ายกักบริเวณ แต่ไม่ได้อยู่ที่บ้าน
ดังนั้นศัพทที่ตรงกว่าคือ He is detained at.......
Or he is a detainee.

ถ้าเขาพาดหัวว่า Ex-ministers under custody จะเป็นการ misleading ทันที
คุณบอกว่าอ่านไปๆ ให้ตลอดแล้วก็จะเข้าใจได้เองว่าจริง ๆ คืออะไร มันไม่ควรจะเป็นเช่นนั้น

มันไม่เหมือนการเขียนทางวิทยาศาสตร์ที่ตรงไปตรงมามาก คิดว่าจะเปิดกระทู้แบบนั้นเหมือนกัน (ใช้ research papers เป็นสื่อ แทนการใช้หนังสือพิมพ์) เพื่อจะได้เปรียบเทียบกันแต่คงไม่มีใครสนใจ ไม่มีเสียงตอบรับ คงต้องขอให้ผู้ดูแลยุบกระทู้นั้น

วันนี้มีข่าวสั้น ๆ ครับ ง่าย ๆ ให้น้องมัธยมหัดอ่านกัน จะเห็นว่าการยึดอำนาจครั้งนี้มีประชาชนสนับสนุน ชาวบ้านไม่กลัวรถถัง และปืนเอ็ม 16 นอกจากนั้นประชาชนในเขตกรุงเทพมหานคร ยังมอบดอกไม้ และส่งข้าวส่งน้ำให้กับทหารที่รักษาความสงบเรียบร้อยด้วยครับ

He did not give the date for the CDRM's inspection but said it was likely the opening schedule would remain unchanged.


The statement put an end to uncertainty on the future of the new airport.


Maj-Gen Thawip said the council gave the green light for the opening of the airport on Thursday as planned after it talked to transport permanent secretary Wanchai Sarathulthat and other airport executives.


Mr Wanchai and the executives reassured them that the airport was ready for operation.


Somchai Sawasdeepon, general manager of Suvarnabhumi airport, said he was ready to answer any questions the newly-formed National Counter Corruption Commission (NCCC) might raise about the scandal-plagued CTX bomb scanners purchase.

Chotisak Asapaviriya, president of the Airports of Thailand (AoT), said the CDRM pledged to provide 800 military personnel to help with porter services and traffic control during the transfer process on Wednesday night.


Mr Chotisak said there are two routes for airport equipment transfer. One is the Vibhavadi Rangsit road-Expressway 1 and 2-Motorway-Suvarnabhumi route and the other is Vibhavadi Rangsit road-Chang Wattana-Lak Si-Ram Intra-Eastern ring road and Motorway route.


Aviation Department director-general Chaisak Angkhasuwan said airport security was in line with international standards imposed by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and assured that the public had nothing to worry about.

Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont says his deposed predecessor, Thaksin Shinawatra, is welcome to come home, but the time is not right. Gen Surayud yesterday confirmed a direct telephone conversation with the former Thai Rak Thai party leader about the possibility of his return to Thailand from his exile in London.

But the government will decide later on the right time for Mr Thaksin to come home, the premier told reporters after returning from his visit to Laos.


''I told him it's the right of all Thais to return to their homeland. But the timing must be right, and we have to discuss the details,'' Gen Surayud said. ''His return is related to several other issues.''

A government source said Mr Thaksin made a long distance phone call to Gen Surayud last week. Earlier, the deposed premier reportedly called Gen Winai Phattiyakul, defence permanent secretary and secretary-general of the Council for National Security (CNS), several times to seek permission to come home.

Right after the Sept 19 coup, the CNS, then called the Council for Democratic Reform, demanded Mr Thaksin meet three conditions before returning to Thailand, she said. The demands included he order all party members to end political activities, delay his return to Thailand and quit politics.

Mr Thaksin is now staying with his family in a London apartment.


Khunying Sudarat said Mr Thaksin telephoned her only once after the Sept 19 coup to ask for her opinions on the future of the party he founded.


''I don't understand why he still wants to come back. If I were him, I wouldn't come back just to suffer. People are criticising him, slandering him. How could he stand it?

Key members have either left the party or are closely watched by the CNS.


''I don't think any one dare stir the waters,'' she said, adding most Thai Rak Thai members anticipate the party will be dissolved.


Leaders of the party's largest factions such as former deputy premier and party secretary-general Suriya Jungrungreangkit and former labour minister Somsak Thepsuthin have resigned from the party together with their faction members.


Mr Suriya will set up a new political party with former prime minister's office minister Newin Chidchob, she said. Both Mr Suriya and Mr Newin could not be reached for comment yesterday.


Mr Somsak will also form a party with factions led by Suchart Tancharoen, Sora-at Klinprathum and Sonthaya Khunpluem. He will ask ex-deputy PM Somkid Jatusripitak to lead it, she said.


Khunying Sudarat, who remains undecided about her political future, said she might ask Mr Somsak to accept former Bangkok MPs in her group into his party.
