ข้อสอบเอ็นทรานซ์ ภาษาอังกฤษ มีนาคม 2542

Situation  : Nid  runs  into  her  friend  Dao  by  chance.

Nid  :  You  don’t  look  too  cheerful.     16     ?

Dao  :  Everthing.

Nid  :  I’m  sure     17     .  Now  what  is  it?

Dao  :  Remember  I  borrowed  that  cassette  from  Amy?  Well,  I’ve    18     recorded  over  the  top

         of  it .  I  can’t  imagine  how  it  happened.  I     19     have  pushed  the  record  button  by  mistake.

         I  don’t  know  what  I’m  going  to  do.  I  can’t  possibly  tell  her.  She’ll  kill  me.

Nid  :  Well,    20     go  and  buy  another  copy?

Dao  :  That’s  the  problem.  It’s  very  rare.  Completely  unobtainable.  She  only  lent  it  to  me    21     

             a  special  favor.            

Nid  :  That’s  too  bad.

Dao  :  She’ll  never  speak  to  me  again.

Nid  :  I’m  sure  she’ll     22   .  Everyone  knows  accidents  happen.

Dao  :  I  just  don’t  see  how  I’ll     23   .    How  do  I  start?

Nid  :  Wait  a  minute.  I  have  an  idea.  Sometimes  this  kind  of  music  is  available  on  CD     24   

             there  are  no  cassettes.  You  buy  the  CD,  make  a  copy  and  she’ll  never  know.

Dao  :  You’re  a  genius.  I’ll  go  to  a  record  shop  this  afternoon.  You’ve  saved  my  life.  Why     25   

             I  think  of  that? 

Dear  Somsak, 

 I  can’t  tell  you  how    26     I  am  that  we’re  going  to  be  penfriends,    27     since  we’re  on

opposite  sides  of  the  world!  Let  me  start  by  telling  you    28     myself  and  you  can  do    29     when

you  write  back  to  me.  I’m  from  a  small  town  in  New  Hampshire  called  Woodbridge.  It’s  about 

twenty  miles    30     Concord,  the  state  capital.  Most  of  the  people  in  the  town     31     a  living  by

faming.  After  school  I  have  a  part-time  job  working    32     a  cashier  in  the  local  supermarket     33   

I’m  a  junior  at  Woodbridge  High  School  and  am  a  member  of  the  school’s  hockey  team.  In  the

winter,  I     34     a  lot  of   time  skiing.  When  I  finish  school,  I  hope  to     35     my  studies  in

environmental  science  at  Dartmouth  College  in  Hanover.
